Head of Directing Track, Michael Uno oversees all directing classes. He has been a member of the Directors Guild of America since 1984, having directed 15 movies for cable and television (1 theatrical release), along with 12 episodes, shorts, and specials. His American Film Institute film,
The Silence (1982) was nominated for Academy Award for Live Action Short and his works or aspects of them have since received 3 nominations from Independent Feature Project West (now FilmIndependent) including Best First Feature; 15 CableACE Award nominations (2 winners); 5 Emmy nominations (2 winners); a Golden Globe Award; a DGA Award nomination; Best Television Feature at the San Francisco International Film Festival; an NAACP Image Award and an Image Award nomination; and a SAG Award nomination.
Uno is a founding member of the Independent Directors Committee of the Directors Guild of America, and holds an M.F.A. in Directing from the American Film Institute. He is currently involved in both Independent Documentary feature production, and long-form television and feature film scriptwriting and project development.
