Jason E. Squire teaches movie business, internships, case studies and screenwriting. He is editor of The Movie Business Book,  the field’s primary textbook. The “International Third Edition” global rollout includes Chinese, English, Japanese and Spanish.

Squire’s longstanding research on business aspects of entertainment helped establish “movie business” as an academic specialty. He co-edited an earlier, pioneering textbook, the subject’s original knowledge formation. His scholarly work was honored at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (2006), where he was inducted as Honorary Fellow, Academic/Scholar Branch, (one of eight international scholars), of The DeSantis Center for Motion Picture Industry Studies.

After an executive career at Avco Embassy, United Artists, 20th Century-Fox and with producer Alberto Grimaldi (The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, Fellini Satyricon, Gangs of New York), Squire joined USC’s faculty. He has written for The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and appeared on CBS, NPR, Newsweek On Air, PSB (Korea) and NHK (Japan).

Squire has also written for the screen (Red Harvest) and executive produced the Conan The Barbarian soundtrack. Global honors include Guest Speaker, 10th Shanghai International Film Festival (2007); Guest Lecturer, Film Business Academy launch, Cass Business School, City University, London (2006); and Advisory Board Member, Nollywood Foundation (encouraging Nigerian production).
