Linda Overholt is program manager in the division of Critical Studies and has been with the School of Cinematic Arts since the fall of 1999. In simple terms, her job is to see to it that the Critical Studies graduate students graduate. Her duties include compilation of the graduate applications for admission; among other tasks, she works with the faculty committees to facilitate the admission process, processes fellowship nominations, organizes teaching assistant assignments, administers both the M.A. comprehensive exams and Ph.D. qualifying exams, is liaison with the USC Graduate School, schedules the Ph.D. dissertation defenses, and—her favorite part of the job—reads the names of all of the Critical Studies graduates at the commencement ceremony.

Overholt is a long-time USC employee, beginning work on the Health Sciences Campus in 1989. She moved to the Rossier School of Education on the University Park Campus in 1992; during her time there she earned her M.A. in College Student Personnel Services, which qualified her for her present position in Critical Studies.
