James O’Keeffe has been an award winning cinematographer for over twenty-five years. Since graduating from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara he has worked for every major studio and television network in this country. He has shot features, movies of the week, commercials, music videos, documentaries and TV pilots as well as hundreds of hours of television programming. His feature film projects include Mike Figgis’
Time Code and
Execution by Ghost Rider Pictures. He has been Director of Photography on many award winning documentaries, including a national Emmy for
No Greater Love.
His most recent accomplishment is being named one of the 2008 Emerging Cinematographer Award winners for the International Cinematography Guild for his work on
Cruel Logic. This was his second ECA win as he was honored for his work on
MAX in 2005, a short film he both directed and shot.
MAX won best short film in four festivals and was a finalist in four others.
Jim is an adjunct professor of cinematography at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a member of the Television Arts and Sciences Academy. He also serves as a board member for the 168 Film Project and for the Brooks Institute Alumni Association. He is married to Dawn Carson O’Keeffe, a television and film producer, and together they own Blue Field Productions. They are blessed with four great kids and reside in Pasadena, CA.
