As a writer for the Cinematic Arts communications office, Mel Cowan specializes in generating materials that support the school’s development initiatives, ranging from donor proposals to fundraising brochures. In addition, he crafts materials for the giving section of the school's Web site.

Cowan is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin Film Production program. He performs regularly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Hollywood.
