One of the country’s most respected film historians, Leonard Maltin teaches the popular Film Symposium course that features screenings of current releases followed by interviews with writers, actors, producers, directors and other industry professionals, many of whom are USC alumni.

After establishing himself with a series of definitive books, including the annual paperback reference Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide, he became known to an even wider audience as the film critic and historian on the syndicated television show Entertainment Tonight, where he has worked since 1982. He also introduces movies on DirecTV.

Maltin's books include Of Mice and Magic: A History of American Animated Cartoons, The Great Movie Comedians, The Disney Films, The Art of the Cinematographer, Movie Comedy Teams, The Great American Broadcast, Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide and Leonard Maltin’s Movie Encyclopedia. He served two terms as President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and was appointed by the Librarian of Congress to sit on the Board of Directors of the National Film Preservation Foundation. He writes, co-produces and hosts the ongoing annual Walt Disney Treasures DVD series, and has appeared on numerous television programs and documentaries. He also publishes a quarterly newsletter, Leonard Maltin’s Movie Crazy.
