Thomas Kang's primary research interest is in building intelligent visual systems that simplify the user experience for performing complex tasks.

He is a senior consultant at Softimage Special Projects and the chief architect of Softimage|"Face Robot". His responsibilities range from biomechanical research and software development to production support and training for studios around the world. Prior to joining Softimage, Kang led the proxy server user interface team at Nokia, developed a prototype facial tracking system for video conferencing at Microsoft Research, and created a detailed model of an oceanic research vessel in an immersive virtual reality environment for logistics evaluations and training at Schlumberger.
