Director of External Production at Sony Computer Entertainment of America, John Hight's seminar class introduces students to each of the professional disciplines involved in making digital games. The class covers two different game products from concept to delivery each semester.
In 1991, Hight built
Battleship, for the Philips Cdi, and has held creative and management positions with Atari, Electronic Arts, Westwood Studios, and 3DO. He has contributed to the design and production of
Nox,
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, and
Yuri's Revenge.
Hight oversees external production for Sony in Santa Monica. He is currently working on games for PlayStation 3 for retail distribution under Sony's new e-Distribution Initiative. His first digitally distributed game,
flOw, was developed by graduate students in the Interactive Media Division as part of ther M.F.A. thesis. He is co-author of
Game Design Essentials Project Management, available from Thomson-Delmar in spring 2007.
