Tim Curnen teaches writing from the unique persective of both a scribe and an editor. Among his writing credits are screenplays for 20th Century-Fox, Universal Pictures, Interscope Communications, Walt Disney Productions, New World Pictures, Ed Pressman Films and others. His titles include:
Tunnel in the Sky (from a novel by Robert Heinlein) for 20th Century-Fox;
Forbidden World - New World Pictures;
Ghost Warrior - Empire Productions; and
The Soul Catcher - Universal Pictures. Curnen also did
Supreme Warrior, a full-motion video interactive game for Digital Pictures (BIMA Gold Medal winner for Best Game of the Year).
On the cutting side, Curnen served as co-editor of
The Rehearsal, directed by Jules Dassin (with Melina Mercouri, Laurence Olivier, Maximilian Schell and Olympia Dukakis); editor of the award-winning documentary
Inside Out – Saving Our Upper Urban Schools, directed by Jack Robertson for the Ford Foundation/PBS; several projects (as assistant editor and sound editor) for the Maysles Brothers and numerous others.
Curnen was the writer/co-developer of special-venue mixed-media productions:
The World of Shakespeare (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England) with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and major installations at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Exploration Place in Wichita and the Bunker Hill Pavilion in Boston, among others.
Besides working at USC, Curnen has taught filmmaking extensively at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program.
