Track Head for the Sound department, she is the first holder of the Kay Rose Chair in the Art of Dialogue and Sound Editing, endowed by George Lucas. Her sound editing has been twice nominated for an Academy Award on
Armageddon (1998), and
Crimson Tide (1995). Other feature credits include
Days of Thunder (1990);
Dead Again (1991);
Broken Arrow (1996);
The Rock (1996);
Con Air (1997), all nominated for the MPSE Golden Reel Award. Additional films include
Imagine, John Lennon (1988);
Crybaby (1990); and
Blue Sky (1994).
Costin received her Masters in Cinema Production from USC, and a B.A. from Smith College. Member of Editors Guild, Local 700, I.A.T.S.E.; Motion Picture Sound Editors, Independent Documentary Association, and Lesbians in Film and Television. In addition to her teaching and film work, she is a world champion surf kayaker.
