An introduction to the history, theory
and languages of new media.

Languages of New Media II
This hands-on lab/seminar focuses on depictions of
virtual worlds in short stories, novels, films and artworks,
considering shifting notions of identity, the body,
community and politics. Significant class time is spent
in virtual worlds, and students produce media-based
projects for assignments.

Praxis of New Media
This course investigates the relationships between
technology and culture in order to form a solid foundation
for producing multimedia projects. Students demonstrate
intellectual complexity by investigating what can be
done with new media that cannot be done in text alone.

Methods in Scholarly Multimedia
Emphasizing rigorous multimedia research and strategies
for authorship within a disciplinary context, this course
prepares students to undertake their thesis project.
