Glimpses of the wide range of activity underway at the School of Cinematic Arts are now available on YouTube, as part of the university’s initiative to harness the power of the world’s leading online video community.
The SCA sub-channel went live in late September in step with the university’s soft launch of the main USC YouTube channel. Cinematic Arts offers a range of playlists, from overviews of various divisions, to clips from First Look films, to projects from the Institute for Multimedia Literacy.
Content will be continually updated, with plans to add clips from faculty research projects, Trojan Vision, the new complex construction and more.
“The school has long understood the power and potential of film, television and new media,” said Dean Elizabeth M. Daley. “Through this initiative, we’re extremely excited about reaching audiences who might not otherwise discover the amazing things our students, alumni, faculty and staff doing.”
The YouTube project became a reality after months of work by Interactive Media Division Chair Scott S. Fisher, who worked in conjunction with USC’s point person on the YouTube project, Suh-Pyng Ku, who is USC’s chief technology officer for enhanced learning.
Currently, the other six USC schools with sub-channels include the Marshall School of Business, the Gould School of Law, the Viterbi School of Engineering, the School of Social Work, the Thornton School of Music and the USC College.
Official cinema submissions can be made through the school’s Office of Communications and Public Relations, which can be contacted at communications@cinema.usc.edu or by calling 213.740.0137.
