School Honors Montes Awardees and Donors

The Alcocers are nieces of Dr. Rodolfo Montes, a dentist who practiced for many years in East Los Angeles, who started this scholarship program to benefit students of Hispanic background.  The schools involved include the School of Cinema-Television (CNTV), Law, Medicine and Public Policy.  A main criteria in the selection process is the amount of community service the students perform in their communities.

The program was held at the Ron Howard Screening Room and featured a small reception following the screening.  Dean Elizabeth Daley and Assistant Dean Cindy Villasenor also attended. In the past several years, an average of five to seven graduate CNTV students have received awards ranging from $1,500 to $7,000.  Scholarship Coordinator Lezra Portillo organized the event.
