Interactive Media Division Introduces New Faculty
Interactive Media Chair Scott Fisher notes the addition of three adjuncts-- Bernie DeKoven, Celia Pearce, and Andreas Kratkty. Celia Pierce was a Visiting Scholar and Adjunct Professor in the Interactive Media division a few years ago where she helped to develop the MFA program. She is also an award-winning game designer, artist, researcher, teacher and author of
The Interactive Book: A Guide to the Interactive Revolution. She will teach "Designing Online Multiplayer Game Environments."
Bernie DeKoven’s belief that things can be made more fun eventually led him to his 2004 book,
Junkyard Sports which described how to develop news game groups of all ages and sizes for individuals, families, schools, communities and cities. He has designed games for the Ideal Toy Company, Children’s Television Workshop, Mattel Toys and others. He will teach "Elements In Interactivity."
Andreas Kratky is a media artist whose work focuses on computer based interactive applications. He is responsible for media design and co-direction of several award winning projects like "That's Kyogen", "Bleeding Through Layers of Los Angeles 1920-1986" and the interactive costume projection in the opera "The Jew of Malta". He will teach "Database Cinema."
