Entertainment Technology Head Delivers Keynote Address
USC Cinema-Television's Entertainment Technology Center's executive director Charles Swartz delivered the keynote address, “Eliminating Boundaries: The Law of Unintended Consequences” at the IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference Banquet on January 9 at Harrah's Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also participated in a panel, "Challenges in R&D for Consumer Communications and Networking" the following day. Charles was also quoted in
Information Week about a deal between Carmike Cinemas Inc. and Christie/AIX to install 2,300 digital projectors in theaters. "I'm very encouraged we are seeing so much movement to digital cinema less than six months after the DCI Specifications were announced," Swartz said. "I'm a bit surprised it's happening so quickly, but not shocked."
