Critical Studies Professor receives Two Research Awards
For the academic year 2005-2006, Critical Studies professor Anne Friedberg has been awarded a faculty fellowship at the Annenberg Center for their "Networked Publics" scholar year; she also received (with Professor Richard Meyer in Art History) a Provost's Special Research Award for $50,000 for their proposal to organize a cross-disciplinary Visual Studies Laboratory at USC. In addition, she has been invited to give the keynote talk at a conference "City - Media – Space," which will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, October 6 and 7. The conference is organized by prestigious German interdisciplinary research group "Mediale Historiographien," which is funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation, the central, self-governing research organisation). The research group is operated by three universities: Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Universität Erfurt and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena .
