Critical Studies Professor Named Editor of Prestigious Quarterly
Critical Studies associate professor Curtis Marez has recently been named the editor of
American Quarterly, the official journal of the American Studies Association. Founded in 1951, AQ is the premier academic journal for the study of U.S. culture. Curtis will be the first film scholar and the first person of color to serve as editor. He has also been selected to represent the American Studies Association at the 2006 conference of the Japanese Association for American Studies at Nanzan University, Nagoya, Japan. In addition to participating in a symposium on "Framing American Studies in Trans-Pacific Perspective," he will deliver a paper called "American Studies, Asia Pacific Studies, and Latin American Studies in the World System: Lessons from the History of Global Cinema."
