Brad Barber (Production '05) reports that he was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for his work as an editor on the HBO documentary
Resolved. Other SCA alums on the film included
Joshua Wilkinson (Production '05) in production sound,
Morgan Stiff (Production '05) as assistant editor and SCA production lecturer Tristan Whitman, who did the cinematography. Barber was also an associate producer and cinematographer for the film which was also nominated in the Outstanding Information Programming category as well. Barber is currently an assistant professor in the Theatre & Media Arts Department at Brigham Young University in Utah.
Mississippi Damned, written and directed by
Tina Mabry (Production '05), was recently awarded the Outfest 2009 Grand Jury Award for Outstanding U.S. Dramatic Film.
Morgan Stiff (Production '05) was the producer and editor, Lee Stiff was the executive producer,
Joshua Wilkinson (Production '05) was the sound designer and mixer,
Eli Rarey (Production '08) was the boom operator and Ryan Adison Amen was the composer. Mabry reports that the award was the sixth the film received out of eight festivals.
Melissa Lee and
Jonako Donley (both Stark '07) produced the film
Dear Lemon Lima, which debuted and won an Outstanding Performance in a Narrative prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Stranger's Poem, directed by Geer DuBois, and
Topi, directed by
Arjun Rihan (Animation '08), were exhibited at the Animation Block Party in Brooklyn last weekend.
John Wells (Stark '82) is producing
The Flock, based on the James Robert Smith novel of the same name. The book tells the story ofa group of intelligent, giant birds discovered in the Florida Everglades that are intent on protecting their ancient home from an approaching development.
Liz Glotzer (Stark '85) is producing
Wonderful Tonight for Castle Rock. The film chronicles the relationship between a confirmed bachelor and a young woman after their one-nighter leads to an unplanned pregnancy and surprising love affair.
Stacey Sher (Stark '85) is producing CBS Films' recently picked-up comedy spec
Get A Job, about a college graduate and his friends who lower their life expectations entering the real world. The project is the second Sher and her Double Feature Films partner, Michael Shamberg, have set up at CBS Films. They are currently in production on true-life medical drama
Crowley.
Jeff Wadlow (Stark '01) was tapped to direct sci-fi action film
Arena for Summit, which he developed with them. Wadlow was
working on the prison escape film
The Tomb for Summit, but when the project stalled, they moved him to Arena.
Paul Canterna (Stark '93) co-produced
Life is Hot in Cracktown.
