Named Artistic Director of June's Sundance Screenwriting Lab

Writing professor Howard A. Rodman has been named Artistic Director of this
June's Sundance Screenwriting Lab.  A longstanding creative advisor to the
Sundance labs,  Howard has previously served as Artistic Director of the
Sundance labs in Sundance, Utah and Wadi Feynan, Jordan.

Additionally, he has led the FACF/SACEM labs in Vittel and Rochefort, France.

Howard also notes that Savage Grace, the film he wrote and has now been released
theatrically, was well reviewed in the Los Angeles Times which called it
"viscerally discomforting as it is emotionally engrossing."  In calling
Julianne Moore's performance "at once transparent and completely
inscrutable," the review attributed the depth of her mysterious character to
Moore and to the director, Tom Kalin and Howard's script.

There is also an interview with Howard on the WGA website.

Following the film's premiere last weekend, Howard did  Q&As following the screenings
at the Sunset 5 and Landmark theaters, as well as a Q&A following an Outfest/Cornell
Club of Los Angeles Screening at the Egyptian the week before last.

Finally, Howard has been hired to write an American adaptation of the classic 1971
French crime thriller Max et les Ferailleurs, originally starring Michel Piccoli and Romy
Schneider, directed by Claude Sautet and written by Sautet and Claude Néron.

This new version is produced by Terence Chang and John Woo of Lion Rock with
Zip Cinema's Lee Eugene and Black Mask Prods.' Hugo Bergson-Vuillaume, and
financed by Studio Canal.  The Korean helmer Kim Ji-Woon is attached to
direct.  The project was announced at Cannes and written up in Variety on
June 3.

One more item‹ Howard reports that he spent yesterday and today at
the Skywalker Ranch as a participant in the Los Angeles Film Festival's
annual Filmmaker Retreat.  The Retreat introduces newer independent
filmmakers to established indy directors, writers, and actors. They will be
discussing the future(s) of independent cinema and communing at the
