Discovery Scholarship Awarded
to Rachel Kerry
IML Honors senior Rachel Kerry earned a Discovery Scholar Award for her work on her thesis project, Seven Fragments. This original performance ran in early April at the Village Gate Theatre.
Rachel endeavored to use multimedia to enhance the dramatic structure of the piece, rather than the 'bells and whistles' sort of gratuitous flash. Much of her preparation work can be viewed on her YouTube channel.
The highest honor given to USC undergraduates, the Discovery Scholarship carries a $10,000 award to be used in graduate school.
Out of 144 submissions, 29 were chosen as finalists. Those 29 were then pared down to the 12 winners. Award recipients were honored at the annual Student Recognition Ceremony and their names are included on the Leavey Library Wall of Scholars
