A Statesman Journal story featured Screenwriting senior lecturer Mardik
Martin about whom a documentary was recently made.

Martin is known a screenwriter on Raging Bull and Mean Streets, the story noted.
The documentary, called Mardik: From Baghdad to Hollywood, charts his
childhood in Iraq as an Armenian Christian and his move to the United
States. "That was not a home; that was being a stranger in a strange and
hateful place," Martin said of Baghdad. "I spent all my time watching movies
and television; that was how I learned English."

Asked what advice he has for aspiring filmmakers, Martin said that there is about
5 percent that one can do something about. The other 95 percent is just luck.
