Mitchell Block's Show
Premiers on PBS
Peter Stark adjunct Mitchell Block reports that his new PBS television
series,
Carrier, which he co-created and executive produced, premiers on
April 27 and runs for five nights from 9:00-11:00 p.m.
Mitchell partnered with Mel Gibson's Icon Productions to make the "character-driven",
nonfiction drama as a 10-hour series that follows a core group of naval personnel on
the USS Nimitz.
Nearly 2,000 hours of high-definition video was shot over a
six-month period from May to November 2005 when the ship was deployed to the
Persian Gulf. Mitchell notes that this is his 29th year teaching at USC and
he teaches a seminar in non-theatrical producing.
