Lisa Leeman Awarded

An ASHSS Grant

Production adjunct Lisa Leeman reports that she has been awarded an ASHSS
grant (Advancing Scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences) from the
Office of the Provost. 

The grant is to support research and filming of the feature documentary,
Crazy Wisdom: The Life & Times of Chogyam Trungpa, produced by
Leeman and directed by SCA adjunct Johanna Demetrakas. 

Leeman also organized last night's program on Tibet in which she moderated a
discussion on the issues currently surrounding the confrontation between
Tibet and China. 

Other speakers included Dean of Religious Life Rabbi Susan
Laemmle and the guest speaker, Buddhist Lama Khen Rinpoche who was exiled
from his monastery.  

The evening was sponsored by SCA; Center for Religion
& Civic Culture; the Knight Chair for Media and Religion (Annenberg School
of Communication); Office of Religious Life; RIGG (Religion, Identity, &
Global Governance project)
