Young Jordanian Filmmakers Here For Workshop
For writing and directing workshops
10 young Jordanian filmmakers and two interpreters are at USC for a series of writing and directing workshops as part of their three-week tour of the U.S., underwritten by the American Embassy in Amman, Jordan.
Directing professor Jeremy Kagan is teaching the basic components of working with actors and staging scenes, and Writing adjunct David Clawson are working with the students to develop story ideas, characters, and prepare short scenes.
As noted in an earlier newsletter, many of these students have completed other SCA workshops held in Amman, and perhaps several will be part of the inaugural class at the new Red Sea Institute opening in Aqaba, Jordan in September.
Meanwhile, last week, Production associate professor Everett Lewis and Writing senior lecturer Paul Wolff spent several days in Amman, Jordan with the Royal Film Commission teaching writing to a group of aspiring filmmakers. Plans are also underway for one or two workshops in Amman this summer.
