Commencement Instructions
Attention Soon-To-Be Graduates
Dear soon-to-be Graduates,Here are some things you need to do in the next month concerning graduation.
Commencement Day: Friday, May 16, 2008.
USC Main Ceremony: 9:00 am, Alumni Park, UPC (no tickets required)
SCA Satellite Ceremony: 2:30 pm, Shrine Auditorium (tickets required)
- Go online to Register for tickets to SCA ceremony at the Shrine.
- Visit your division office and fill out a Commencement card and a Photography card.
- Proof your name in the Commencement Book if you haven’t done this online already with Degree Progress.
- Rent regalia — your cap and gown — at the Bookstore.
Go online to Register so that you may walk with your graduating class at the SCA ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium. At this time, you may also request tickets for family and friends for the ceremony.
Login to http://scacommunity.usc.edu and click on Commencement Registration under the My Tools section. You must register online by April 7 in order to obtain tickets.
If you do not have an SCA Community account already, you can register by going to http://scacommunity.usc.edu, click on “Register Account” and enter your USCID number in the field provided. If you have any problems registering or accessing your account, please contact webmaster@cinema.usc.edu for assistance.
By registering, you will automatically become a member of the SCA Alumni Community, enabling you to receive all the exclusive benefits and services that over 10,000 SCA alumni enjoy. These benefits include invitations to our regular series of screenings, Q+As, and alumni events; access to contact information for other SCA alumni; our alumni publications like the biannual In Motion and monthly SCA e-newsletter; and use of the online Cinema Job Board. Best of all, these benefits are free for SCA alumni.
Visit Your Division Office
Stop by your division office by April 11 to fill out a Commencement Card and a Photography card. Photographs will be taken at the SCA ceremony by Bob Knight Photography who will email complimentary proofs to you 20 hours after graduation. Check out bobknightphoto.com for more info. You are under no obligation to purchase photos from them. Everyone’s photo will be taken.
Commencement Book
The Commencement Book lists every graduate’s name who is eligible to graduate in Fall 2007, Spring 2008 or Summer 2008. Please visit the Degree Progress web site and verify your name at: www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/degreeprogress/onlineservices.html . Click on Check Your Commencement Related Information.
The last chance to verify your name in the Commencement Book in person is April 8 & 9 at Degree Progress (SAS 010) or University Publications (STU 400).
Cap and Gown Rental
Rental of regalia starts on April 30 through 12noon on May 16 at the Bookstore. Bachelors - $29.00, Masters - $49.99, PhD - $67.50
