Alumnus Mark S. Johnson

School of Cinematic Arts Alumnus Mark S. Johnson, 56, of North Brunswick died suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Johnson received his B.A. degree from Stanford University and went on to receive his M.A. in production before furthering his education with an M.B.A. and his Ph.D. in business administration and marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. For the past five years, Johnson was employed as a university professor with Montclair State University. He previously taught and conducted research at Rutgers University from 1999 until 2002; at Baruch College, City University of New York, from 1994 until 1999; and at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1987 until 1993. His research focused on customer relationships, to service organizations, psychology and marketing. Prior to receiving his Ph.D., he and his family owned and operated a small family business, the Ben Franklin Variety Store in Boulder, Colo.
Born in Midland, Texas, Johnson grew up in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Boulder, Colo. He lived and worked in Boulder, Colo. for many years before moving to North Brunswick in 1994.
He was an Eagle Scout, and a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Monmouth Junction, he was also a Catholic Charities volunteer at Ozanam Men's Homeless Shelter, New Brunswick, one of his favorite church activities.
Son of the late Clarence T. and Lois M. Jensen Johnson, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra K. Nicholson Johnson; a son, Kyle D. Johnson; a daughter, Ascia C. Johnson, and two brothers, Keith Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Alex Johnson of Rockport, Texas.
