Tracy Fullerton Quoted
On "Rise of the Video Game"
Interactive Media assistant professor Tracy Fullerton and Michael Zyda of the USC Viterbi School were quoted on the Discovery News program
“Rise of the Video Game.” “I think that people are attracted to the fantasy of constructing systems, controlling lives, controlling the uncontrollable in games,” Tracy said. In real life, it’s hard to understand all the factors that affect life, much less control them, she pointed out.
Zyda spoke about the history of artificial intelligence development. The program also highlighted the serious game Darfur Is Dying, which was created by USC students. Tracy also discussed the massively multiplayer online games on the program. “We live in a global society, we are part of a system that’s much larger than ourselves, and these games play into that need to both be part of a large system but also somewhat in control of that very large global system,” she said.
