Plenary Speaker

Ellen Seiter

Critical Studies professor Ellen Seiter is an opening plenary speaker at the International Communication Association conference in San Francisco May 24. Seiter was interviewed by Liz Doup about online games for tweens with chat functions for the Florida Sun-Sentinel in a story April 22 “If you have a tween, this is how they probably spend a lot of time on the computer.  With TV, kids understand that commercials are selling them something," she says. "But with these sites, there's a blurring of ad content with the games. That's what they need to be educated about."

Seiter was also interviewed for O, The Oprah Magazine about why there aren’t more women directors in Hollywood.
